I swear, the atoms in my body are habituated based on weather conditions. If the sunās out, youāll probably find me at the beach (or headbanging at a festival) ā but the moment I hear rainfall, I sit my bum at a cute cafe, whip out my laptop, and start channeling my blogger mom energy. Iām not a mom, but yenno.
We are creatures of habit, and in todayās edition, I want to share a few mini habits that have made my life incrementally more productive and pleasant. :)
DND and face down: When Iām working, Iād put my phone on āDo Not Disturbā and either leave it face down on the table, or not even within reach. I keep a mental note that Iām not allowed to check my phone until I finish X (for example, typing out half this newsletter). Gamechanger for mitigating distraction.
Wind-down routine: Night-time routines deserve just as much credit as mornings! I now look forward to my shower, face mask, heatless curls (itās FUN), and several other elements of my night routine which make āgoing to bedā something I look forward to.
Smiling more: I already smile a LOT (if youāve met me, you know), but smiling more doesnāt hurt (unless itās giving serial killer vibesā¦) ā especially after I learned that the physical act of smiling actually makes you physiologically happier!!! Smile at others, smile at yourself, smile for any reason or for no reason at all :)
Stretching while sitting: I just did the most satisfying back and shoulders stretch in my chair just now. You can also roll your ankles under the table. Straighten your spine and breathe into your ribcage. I even clench my bum when I recall I have a bum. Not to mention stretching my neck. Try it next time youāre working. FEELS REAL GOOD.
Walk and talk: I always pair phone catchups with friends with a nice walk outside. Habit-stacking a conversation and getting steps in = a GOLDEN combo, as it practically feels like my friend is on the walk with me.
Using argan oil: Girls that get it, get it. I use argan oil to help my lashes and brows grow, to oil my scalp for hair health, to nourish my cuticles, and even on my belly button for claims it helps with bloating and digestion (??). Girls (or guys) trust me on this one.
Inbox zero: Not the work inbox ā Iām talking personal. Itās a habit for me to keep my mailbox clean and organized, which includes unsubscribing from things I donāt read, automated mail categories (Yay Gmail!), and reaching inbox zero daily. Iāll never miss something important.
Gratitude: Oldie but goldie. When I fell off my gratitude journaling habit, I actually noticed that life felt⦠less magical. Gratitude works ācuz youāre reprogramming your mind to see the best in everything and not take things for granted. I journal it, pray it, and speak it.
Okie, thatās a pretty solid list of eight mini habits; and I hope you can take this as inspiration to add some to your list as well! Do it for yourself <3
