I don’t know if it’s just me, but do ya’ll ever get this HUGE, and I mean HUUUGEEEE surge of motivation to change your life at 3AM? 3AM of all times?!
Then you start getting even more excited, because you’re planning the whole thing in your head — like you’ll get up at 6 and start this project and do this and do that — then your alarm actually rings at 6AM, but instead, you snooze it (duh, you slept 3 hours) and you go about your day like you always did.
You wait ‘til tomorrow, until tomorrow becomes another 365 days. Whoops. Having no plan is planning to fail.
Let’s make our grandiose dreams a little less daunting (and a lot more realistic) to achieve.
I recently started filling in my 2024 Artist of Life workbook, and some of my favourite pages are the goal breakdowns.
The workbook prompts us to dissect our annual intentions into quarterly chunks, then monthly, weekly, and daily. Work from the birds-eye-view down to the granular level, and if the granular seems unrealistic, the bigger goal may need adjusting.
By focusing on the process just as much as the outcome, it’s WAY more likely you’ll actually achieve the goal. Because “get a new job” is wayyyy more intimidating than “do one career coffee chat a week,” just as “get visible abs” feels out of reach compared to “do a 20-min stairmaster workout 3x a week.”
You don’t need to diminish those 3AM dreams. Let them flourish, but pull them down a bit from the clouds and root them deeply in systems and timelines.
Give yourself clean-cut specifics, a plan of action, to make that goal absolutely inevitable.
Most importantly, plan for a margin of error, for nobody is perfect — honour your body, your needs, and the uncertainty of life. The important thing is to keep showing up, most of the time.
The cherry on top? Make it all enjoyable (as much as you can), because you just might fall so in love with the process that you attract outcomes way more magnificent than your original vision.
One day, or day one? You choose!
To your success,
Meg

Raw life update:
I’m in the midst of goodbyes as I’m living my last week in Vancouver before I fly to Toronto next Sunday… and I truly feel like I’m ready :)
Been grappling with this feeling of “being in limbo” between the holidays and getting back in routine — but small, daily wins and joys are keeping me going.
Been challenging myself to post on TikTok at least once a day, to flex more of my creative muscles. And tis been a LOT of fun!!
Honestly, having a tad of an existential crisis (what’s new? LOL) to entering 2024 and turning 26 in roughly a month. But through it all, I’m grateful to be surrounded by love. <3
